Surgical and Medical Outreach

March 2024

Freetown, Sierra Leone
Sinkor, Monrovia, Liberia, West Africa

In March 2024, we conducted our third Surgical and Medical Mission. We were so excited to serve so many more individuals this trip. We travelled to Connaught Hospital in Sierra Leone from March 11-15 followed by Liberian trips to John F. Kennedy Hospital, 14 Military Hospital, Redemption Hospital for surgical patients and non-surgical patients seen at the Darlingston G. Johnson Medical Center from March 18-29. We expected to perform four times more surgical procedures and two times more non surgical individuals which we did indeed. We also had the opportunity to visit a local Liberian school and donate dental supplies! We thank you all for your contributions and support.

February 2023

Location:
Sinkor Monrovia, Liberia, West Africa

In February 2023, our team returned to the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital (JFK), Redemption Hospital, and the Darlingston G. Johnson Medical Clinic to perform free major and minor surgeries. During this trip, were able to perform three times more surgical procedures than in our 2019 trip (88 surgeries at JFK and 176 surgeries at Redemption for a total 264 surgeries performed).

At the clinic: We worked out of the Darlingston G. Johnson Clinic (DGJ) in Sinkor Monrovia and Grace Medical Center. During Week 1 at the DGJ Clinic, we saw 206 patients and sent 76 patients for eye surgery (in partnership with another outreach effort). In our second week at the clinic, we assisted 564 patients. However, the DGJ Clinic was not our only medical location. At Grace Clinic, another 751 patients were seen to bring the total to 1,315 patients during our two week stay.

2023 Trip Highlight:

Honorable Senator Saah H Joseph of Montserrado County, Liberia, West Africa

With the support of Honorable Senator Saah H Joseph from Montserrado County, we secured additional supplies and a bus, which facilitated our outreach efforts and enabled us to extend our reach to a second clinic. This strategic addition aimed to enhance patient access, particularly for those residing in areas farther from Monrovia, the capital city.
